Taking our message to COP28
Collaborating for climate action
Climate change is one of our two strategic priorities, alongside equity, diversity and inclusion. There is a climate and nature emergency, and bold action is needed. We believe that heritage organisations have a unique contribution to make.
Much of our work uses our spaces, experiences and voice to inspire people to act against climate change, invigorate recovery and build community. Throughout our projects and programmes, there is a thread drawing together the resources needed to support nature and culture to thrive.
Now INTO is taking our message to COP28, where alongside the British Council, National Trust and other member organisations, we will share the ongoing achievements of our collaborative working models.
We can demonstrate through projects such as ‘Withstanding Change’, how an injection of resources can support effective climate adaptation to heritage, grow community awareness and engagement and support the skills and knowledge needed to keep this work alive.
Working together
A huge part of what we do is to take the information from our projects and make it accessible. Lessons learned will be available to all our member organisations, enabling support for climate action to grow around the world. By working together, we can achieve so much more.
How can we help you to take action?

More on climate projects
From 2022-2025, with £1.6 million in funding from the British Council’s Cultural Protection Fund and supported by the INTO project team, our international partners will restore six historic sites that are threatened by climate change.
This collaboration with CCFU preserved heritage at risk from climate change in Uganda. The British Council's Cultural Protection Fund supported this project.
